Most families ask the same first question about a bronze memorial plaque: what will it cost? This guide gives our 2026 prices in Canadian dollars, what makes one plaque cost more than another, and the cemetery charges outside our price. Every plaque is designed online, priced live in Canadian dollars, checked on a free proof, and shipped across Canada.

What moves the price

Size. Size makes the biggest difference, because a larger plaque needs more bronze and a larger casting. Moving from 12 x 8 in to 16 x 12 in adds close to $600.

Amount of lettering. More names and longer verses often push you up a size to keep the letters readable.

A photo. A portrait adds to the cost. Our page on whether bronze memorial plaques can include photos explains the options.

Emblems and borders. A motif, a religious symbol or a decorative border can change the price, and the tool updates the total as you add or remove each one.

The base. A plaque on a grave is usually fixed to a granite base. We supply the plaque, not the base, so the base is a separate cost through the cemetery or its monument dealer.

Cemetery charges, separate from our price

If the plaque is going on a grave, budget for the cemetery’s own charges as well. These are set and collected by the cemetery, not by us, they differ from one cemetery to the next, and they can change, so treat any figure as a guide only and ask the office for its current list. The usual items are a setting or installation fee for placing the marker, a permit or approval fee for reviewing the design, and the base if the cemetery supplies it.

In Ontario, the size of a flat marker also sets the cemetery Care and Maintenance contribution: $0 under 173 square inches and $100 at 173 square inches or more. On our size list, 12 x 8 in (96 square inches) and smaller fall under that line, while 16 x 12 in (192 square inches) and larger are over it. Our bronze plaques in Ontario page has more on the province.

Ways to keep the cost down

Pick the smallest size that holds your wording at a comfortable reading size. Trimming a verse by a line or two can save a size.

Design it yourself in the tool, and use our free design assistance if you want a second pair of eyes on the layout. There is no charge for the proof.

Check the cemetery’s size rules before you design, so the plaque never has to be remade.

Compare stone as well. A traditional engraved plaque in granite, marble or sandstone was $262.90 for about 12 x 8 in (300 x 200 mm) in the design tool on 22 October 2026.

Questions about bronze memorial plaque cost

Does the price include shipping?

Yes. The design tool prices include delivery across Canada.

Is installation included?

No. We supply the plaque. On a grave, the cemetery or its monument dealer usually sets it and charges its own fee, which is separate from our price.

Why does the same size sometimes cost more?

Additions such as a photo, an emblem or a decorative border change the total. The tool shows the effect of each one before you order.

When should I order?

Any time of year. Most cemeteries set markers from spring to late autumn, so a winter order is usually installed in spring.
